Unlock Cyber SEND

The Unlock Cyber SEND project’s aim is to help with the delivery of employer activities into SEND schools. These activities are designed to help engage with and prepare young people with autism (Autistic Spectrum Division) for digital careers. The police (e-safety), BT and Leonardo Cyber have supported this project.

We are working together with a group of SEND schools and employers to:

  • Develop a framework to enable employers to deliver activities into SEND Schools. Within this framework sits the employer activity delivered at 3 levels.
  • Produce a structure, which students and teachers are familiar with
  • Utilise symbols and language that SEND schools use, avoiding too much text.
  • Arrange 2 pilot events involving employers and learners to deliver and evaluate 3 different employer activitie
  • Determine how best to prepare and provide support for learners interested in digital careers.

Objectives of Project

Employers need a greater understanding of learners’ needs for employer engagement to have more impact. SEND schools are being encouraged to provide more employer engagement so we need to understand how best this can be achieved. Careers opportunities for these young people can be limited. Our aim is to develop a greater understanding and awareness of digital careers.
