Below are a selection of links to various sites which have activities you can undertake to train towards a career in cyber security.
Khan Academy
The Khan Academy provides free resources for students and teachers on a myriad of topics. One really good example is this section on Data Encryption Techniques.
TechYouth
TechYouth is the new government (DSIT) programme being launched in the Southwest of England in September 2026.It is for young people aged 11 to 18 years. The aim is to provide a range of opportunities to develop tech skills, get confident with AI and gain insight into a range of potential tech careers. This includes the Cyber Explorers site (see above).
UK Cyber Security Council
The UK Cyber Security Council is the body which holds the Professional Register; the only route to formal professional registration in the sector.
The title Associate Cyber Security Professional is a recognised route for individuals to evidence their knowledge and skills, through routes including academic qualifications, self-directed study, certifications and bootcamps (read more here).
The UK Cyber Security Youth Advisory Panel is a group of passionate young people helping to shape the future of the UK’s cyber security sector (read more here).
