WISE delivers women-centred Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion solutions for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) sectors. They provide an outreach resource to encourage girls to pursue a career in STEM
Year 8 CyberFirst girls competition
The Cyber First Girls competition is aimed at inspiring girls aged 12–13 to pursue careers in cybersecurity, this competition involves teams facing challenges in logic, cryptography, AI, and networking. Cyber First is moving into the Department of Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT) see here for details.
UWE Bristol Girls in Tech
The UWE Bristol Girls in Tech free event (hopefully annually each March) is dedicated to inspiring female secondary school students from Bristol and South Gloucestershire to explore the dynamic and varied world of technology. It is hosted at the Frenchay Campus of the University of the West of England (UWE).
This employer-led initiative is not just about showcasing careers in information technology, robotics, and engineering, it’s an opportunity to break stereotypes and spark interest in technology among girls, especially those who may not yet see themselves in this field.
Code First Girls
Code First Girls has become one of the largest providers of free coding courses for women globally. They offer courses for females, run by women. They also have ambassadors and partner with a handful of universities around UK.
Girls Who Code
They are on a mission to close the gender gap. They have also developed an AI curriculum and a Data Science course. Although this is mostly US based there is now a UK section with options to create your own club, which can be supported.
I Belong in Computing
The I Belong in Computing page of the National Centre for Computing Education is dedicated to help teachers be inclusive. It is aimed at encouraging girls into computer science, supporting learners with SEND and neurodiversity and also providing a Computing Quality Framework: addressing the needs of each pupil.
Ladies of Cheltenham Hacking Society
Ladies Hacking Society is a women-centric non-profit, focused on developing offensive and defensive technical skills in the cybersecurity sector.
Founded by women, for women, we have established a community that’s focused on sharing knowledge, experience, opportunities, mentoring and support.
The LHS Cheltenham chapter was launched in 2021 and runs technical talks and meetups in Cheltenham throughout the year.

Tech She Can
Tech She Can is a charity that is committed to changing the ratio of women in tech. All their resources are FREE. They provide live assemblies and lessons. Schools can also request STEM Ambassadors through them.
Girls into Coding
Girls Into Coding is a London-based not-for-profit Social Enterprise and Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to increasing girls’ participation in TECH & ENGINEERING by providing hands-on events, activities, and opportunities for girls to connect with other women in Technology & Engineering. Worth a visit to check out their resources.
CyberWomen Groups C.I.C.
Cyberwomen groups are community groups of like-minded students within UK universities, with an interest in cyber-based subjects. They come together and empower women in this field. The nearest group is based at UWE. They aim to make fun and engaging resources for young people to encourage them into the Cyber Security and Digital Forensics field. We will do this by hosting and participating in events and networking opportunities.
Security Queens
The Security Queens are Sarah and Sophia, two friends who study and work in cybersecurity. They publish monthly content on cybersecurity and technology and were voted “Most Educational Blog for User Awareness” at the European Cybersecurity Blogger Awards 2022. Collectively they’re here to promote growth and inclusion in the cybersecurity field, to document their learning, and hopefully support other people in their journeys to break into this space.
Women in Tech (podcast)
The Women in Tech podcast is hosted by We Are LA Tech’s Espree Devora and features inspiring Women in Tech from Engineers, Female Founders, Investors, UX and UI Designers, Journalists all sharing their story how they got to where they are today. The purpose of the show is for every listener to walk away feeling ‘If She Can Do It So Can I’.
